Craftsmanship
Kakejiku
Select works from my Vertique collection may be realised as kakejiku, traditional Japanese wall scrolls. These are created in collaboration with master paper makers and scroll artisans in rural Japan. Each piece is handcrafted using centuries-old techniques, where material choice, proportion, and restraint shape the final work.
Washi, Japanese papers, are selected for their tonal qualities and surface character. Silks and textiles used in the mounting are sourced from specialist Japanese weavers, creating balance between image, paper, and scroll. Every kakejiku is commissioned individually. Together we consider the image, its setting, and the most appropriate materials. As a fully handmade process, production typically takes around two to three months from commissioning to completion.
Acrylic Face-Mounted Prints
Acrylic face-mounted prints combine premium materials and precise production to reveal exceptional depth, clarity, and colour. A fine art print is produced with state-of-the-art equipment in collaboration with a leading professional lab. The print is permanently mounted beneath optically clear acrylic to intensify vibrancy and detail. A rigid backing panel and concealed hanging structure provide strength and a clean, floating presentation. Lighter and more durable than glass, the acrylic surface also filters UV light and reduces reflections, protecting the artwork and supporting its longevity over time.
Fine Art Paper Prints
Fine art paper prints offer a refined and flexible way to collect my work. Each image is produced on museum-grade fine art papers chosen for tonal accuracy, surface character, and longevity. Options include contemporary fine-art stocks and washi (traditional Japanese handmade paper), selected to suit both the photograph and its intended presentation.
Frames
Framing is offered as an optional enhancement for both acrylic and archival prints. For collectors who prefer added definition or a more traditional finish, I offer a carefully curated selection designed to complement, not compete with, the artwork. Floating frame options create subtle shadow lines and depth, with premium materials and precise finishing delivering a clean, gallery inspired presentation.
Acrylic Art Blocks
Each acrylic art block is crafted as a self‑contained sculptural object. A high‑definition archival print is sealed within optically clear acrylic, then precisely cut and polished to flawless edges. The substantial depth allows light to refract through the image, enhancing clarity, colour, and dimensional presence while requiring no mounting or framing.
The Assurance of Uncompromising Quality
Quality is the foundation of my work. From waiting for the right light in the field to careful refinement in the digital darkroom, every decision is deliberate. Each artwork is produced with master printers, archival materials, and exacting standards, creating clarity, durability, and a presence intended for long-term enjoyment.
